Mike rings the doorbell at the Davis family's house. Janet comes to the door.
Janet : Oh hi, Mike--why don't you come on in for a few minutes? Toni's just grabbing a sweater upstairs, but she'll be right down.
Mike : Thanks, Mrs. Davis.
Janet : She's been swamped with work lately, so I'm glad she'll have a chance to relax.
Mike : Definitely. She deserves it.
Toni enters the front hall.
Toni : I'm ready if you are.
Janet : I'll expect you back at 11, OK?
Toni : Sure, mom.
Mike drives them to a movie theater. On the way they chat together.
Toni : When you were a senior in high school, did you feel like you were overworked? I sure do.
Mike : Kind of. But I wasn't working on the weekends, just studying.
Toni : I just can't wait to graduate.
After parking the car and buying tickets, they find there are still ten minutes before the previews begin.
Toni : Let's have some popcorn. My treat.
Mike : Wait a minute, I'll pay.
Toni : No, I insist. Do you want a large orange soda?
Mike : That would be fantastic. Thanks.
They find seats in the crowded theater.
